Key points
The rope is 28 mm in diameter and spliced into steel hooks at both ends, so the eye is formed in the rope itself rather than sewn into flat webbing. That is what makes this a polyester tow strap rather than a webbing one.
Above 18 ton the rope switches to nylon. Nylon stretches further under shock load, which is why the 25 and 35 ton versions are used for extreme recovery while the lighter ones stay polyester and resist abrasion better on tarmac.
